Graduation Mass

On Wednesday the 5th of December, the Grade 6 students and their families celebrated the Graduation Ceremony for 2018. The night commenced at 6:00 with a special Mass that was attended not only by those celebrating their graduation, but with families, extended families, other members of our school community, staff and past students. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the journey of our Grade 6 students through the course of their lives at St James.
Following the Mass, there were formal presentation ceremonies. This involved a special reflective speech from the students and then a formal reply and address from the school principal. Awards were presented from the Bunyip-Garfield Rotary Club, St Francis Xavier Secondary College, St Vincent de Paul and the school community. Families leaving the school were given a special gift to remember their time at the school. Finally, the students were presented and awarded with their Graduation certificates.
The Graduation Dinner followed. The chicken and chips were well received. However, the pop rocks on the ice-cream sundaes proved to be an explosive hit of the evening.
This was a wonderful way to celebrate the years that our graduates have spent at St James. The night, celebrated and shared by so many, is a true indication of the spirit of the school. Thank you to all of those who made the evening such a memorable occasion.
