Grandparents Day

Grandparents’ Day at St James has become an annual, traditional event. It is a day where grandparents (or significant other) and parents are invited to visit St James school. It is a community day that brings together a diversity of people, ages and interests. It is a great opportunity for grandparents to share in the educational life of their grandchildren.
Children are encouraged to dress in their house colours.
Family members are welcome to dress in house colours to show their support.

Colours: Briant – Blue
Kavanagh –Green
McGuigan – Red

Please see below for times:

9:30am             Mass at St James Church. Children are encouraged to sit with their grandparents during Mass.

10:20am           Morning Tea will be shared with adults and students in the undercover area.

                        Easter Raffle will be drawn.

11:00am           Grandparents to be seated at oval

                        Please BYO Chair.

House Sports commence.

  • Sprints, long distance
  • novelty relays

In house team’s children demonstrate their ‘marching’ skills for grandparents.


12:30pm           Lunch for adults will be served in the hall. Students will return to their classrooms to have their lunch.

1:00pm            Open classrooms. Grandparents are invited into classrooms to see their grandchildren’s work and learn about the modern classroom.

Grandparents may leave whenever they have finished sharing their day with their grandchildren. Students are permitted to leave school early on this day with the families if desired.

School will finish at 2:30pm.
